Frequently asked questions

These answers describe how Aries CPA & Co. works with Hong Kong accounting, audit, tax and CPA documentation. They are general information, not advice on your facts. For a specific matter, contact the firm.

What does Aries CPA & Co. do?

Aries CPA & Co. (艾威斯會計師事務所) is a Hong Kong accounting firm serving clients since 2015. The office is at Unit 744, 7/F, Star House, 3 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. We work on accounting, independent audit, Hong Kong profits tax, salaries tax and BIR60 filing, fact-specific tax planning, New Capital Investment Entrant Scheme and BUD Fund CPA documentation, and follow-up on legacy SME Export Marketing Fund (EMF) cases.

Is preparing accounts the same as an audit?

No. Keeping records or preparing management accounts and financial statements does not provide independent audit assurance. An audit is a separate engagement. Directors and the client remain responsible for complete and accurate records.

Can you help with Hong Kong profits tax?

Corporate tax support can include profits tax returns, offshore profits claims, advance rulings, the foreign-sourced income exemption (FSIE), transfer pricing, objections and replies to Inland Revenue Department enquiries. The quotation or engagement letter states the scope. This website does not state a tax result and does not publish a fee schedule.

Can you help with salaries tax or BIR60?

Individual tax support can include BIR60 filing and salaries tax for cross-border income, aircrew, performers and expatriates, plus objections and Inland Revenue Department enquiries. The return is prepared from the information you provide. Filing support is not a guarantee of a particular assessment.

Do you prepare New CIES, BUD Fund or EMF documents?

We can prepare CPA documentation for New CIES financial statements and for BUD Fund audited accounts, reports and project papers. For legacy EMF cases we can help with financial evidence, audited accounts and final-payment documents, including a transition toward the BUD Fund where that applies. The relevant body decides applications. We do not approve them.

How long must a Hong Kong company keep accounting records?

The Companies Ordinance generally requires a company to keep its accounting records for seven years after the end of the relevant financial year. Tax and other record-keeping rules may also apply. How that works for a particular company depends on its facts.

How do engagements and fees work?

Contact us with the entity, the period and what you need done. We confirm scope, timetable and fees in a quotation or engagement letter before work starts. This website does not publish a price list. You can ask for a free evaluation of your needs on the contact page. That discussion is not a completed opinion or a filed return. Payment arrangements the firm has already published are on the payment page.
